What can you do?

For Consumers:
Meet! Meet your local business owners and learn what products and services they offer. You can start by browsing our business directory, or by attending one of the Buy Local networking meetings as a guest.
Compete! Give local businesses a chance to earn your business! They can compete, and they will!
Shift! Make a goal to shift 10% or more spending to local businesses. If you spend $50 out of every $100 in local businesses, try to increase that proportion to $55. It will make a big difference!
Recommend! Share your positive business experiences with your family, friends and others in the community. You, your local business and your community will benefit!

If we increased local retail sales by 10% we would generate: approximately 68 jobs, $1.5 million in wage income, and $2.3 million in total income.

When you consider those numbers, it doesn’t make sense NOT to participate. In fact, because the majority of businesses in our unique county are locally owned, raising our local spending closer to the national average will be easier than you think. The key is getting the word out. Speak to your friends and neighbors - BE VOCAL. Get kids involved - make it a game and challenge them to help find ways to spend locally.
